Geo Fence

Geo fence is a virtual fence that triggers an event when entered/exited. Such event can be to send SMS notification. Geo fences can be made with circles, polygons of any shape or polylines.

We care a lot about keeping our system user friendy. That’s why geo fence is not available in the user interface. Geo fence comes with some challenges that can create confusion or an unsatisfactory experience for some users.

Challenges when using geo fence can for example be:

  • Creating too small/narrow geo fence. In such case “GPS jumps” and accuracy can cause confusion.
  • GPS upload frequency. If the GPS upload frequency is long, you can enter and exit before it has had time to report.
  • Connecting geo fence to correct tracker if you’re having multiple trackers on same account.

How to find coordinates

Go to an online map like Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, etc. Click on the map to select the center point of where you want the geo fence to be. Coordinates is typically shown as 48.858798, 2.294988.
